Policy of free
registration for ECAI conferences
This rule was written by Wolfgang Wahlster.
It is applied at Amsterdam, Budapest, Brighton and Berlin.
Free registration and other concessions (free
accomodation, travel) is extremely restrictive.
The procedures are:
- Free attendance (with proceedings) should
be only given to the Conference Officers (6 tickets), the ECCAI Board
(6 tickets) and the invited speakers. These officials should also get
free banquet tickets as a "thank you from ECCAI".
- No other concessions are allowed. In
particular, everybody has to pay the travel expenses and accomodation
from his own budget . The ECCAI Board members will charge their
travel expenses to the general account for ECCAI Board meetings.
- Each PC member gets a free copy of the
proceedings. Please note that for PC members who cannot make it to
the conference, the proceedings should be shipped to their home
address. The PC members cannot get free registration or other
concessions. Since the PC members get a free copy, we can reduce the
registration fee for them by subtracting the costs of a proceedings
volume. If you feel, that this procedure generates too much overhead,
we could give them an extra copy of the proceedings: That's what we
did in Budapest for the PC members who had paid the full amount.
- It is extremely important, that all
workshop attendees (including so-called "invited speakers"
at workshops) must register at the workshop and the conference. For
workshop organizers only the workshop fee is waived. For tutorial
speakers there is no free registration and no free attendance.
