Travel Awards 2010

Introduction

An ECCAI Travel Award Scheme has been established to support students, young researchers and faculty who are members of an ECCAI affiliated society participating in ECAI or ACAI. The awards, valued at 400 Euros each, are for reimbursement of travel and partial payment of registration fees.

This year the ECCAI Travel Award Scheme supports participation in ECAI 2010. No funding for any other conference will be given.

Eligibility Rules

The purpose of these awards is to help early stage researchers (research students, young teaching faculty or young research staff) in need of financial help to attend. Grants to reimburse 75% of total costs are available, to a limit of 400 Euros.

Recipients must be members of an ECCAI member society. A basic understanding of the field is expected so that attendance should enrich existing knowledge, rather than being used for basic training.

Applicants who intend to participate actively in the event (e.g., by presenting a full paper, workshop paper or poster) may be given priority.

Only one applicant per paper can be funded, provided (s)he has not received the travel grant in previous years. If you accept the ECAI Travel award you must include an acknowledgement to the ECAI sponsors in your presentation at the conference.

ECCAI Central & Eastern European Support Grants 2010

In order to encourage authors from Central and Eastern Europe, we are organising a special support program. There will be a number of travel grants available for full papers accepted for the ECAI 2010 technical program with all authors from Central and Eastern Europe.

Application Procedure

Applicants should follow the electronic submission procedure described below.
  1. Create an archive file (tar or zip) containing the following information, and structured as follows:
    • A brief CV, including current professional status (PhD student, postdoc, teaching staff, research staff, etc.) and a list of publications.
    • Letter or other evidence of professional status and confirmation that the applicant will be allowed leave to attend the event from a Department Head, Professor or Supervisor. This also needs to state that the additional funds needed to attend will be available.
    • Evidence of membership of an ECCAI affiliated society.
    • Bank details: BIC and IBAN code if available (this includes all countries in the Euro-zone), otherwise: bank name and address, SWIFT code, account number, name and address of account holder.
    • A case for support, no more than 3 pages, which includes:
      1. Evidence of existing interest and expertise in Artificial Intelligence.
      2. Reasons why ECCAI should make the award to the applicant and a description of the part the applicant will play in the event.
      3. The amount the visit will cost together with evidence of any financial support for the remainder of the cost.
  2. Send the archive file to the mail address given below no later than May 31, 2010.
